Intro: During the early 1980s the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Ministry of National Defense and GM, USA established a joint venture named "Huatung Motors, Ltd." - the former name of Kuozui Motors, Ltd.
After GM withdrew its investment in 1983, Hotai Motor Co., Ltd. set up a partnership with the Japanese Hino corporation to assemble heavy good vehicles. So in early 1984, Hotai, together with China Development Trust and Hino established Kuozui Motors, Ltd.
Two years later Toyota vans were also added to the manufacturing base. Today local Toyota assembly forms the backbone of the company which has a capacity of 105000 cars per year and an additional 5000 trucks per year. |
