Intro: The 1951-54 Allard J2X was a British competition roadster that thrilled the crowds from Goodwood to Le Mans and from Watkins Glen to Palm Springs. Only 83 were built by Sydney Allard, in London, during that period. Most were exported to North America without the drive train, to be fitted with American V8s- primarily the Chrysler 331 Hemi and the 331 cu. in. Cadillac. Carroll Shelby's successful racing career began at the wheel of an Allard J2X in 1952, as was the famed racecar driver, Masten Gregory.
Today, the new Allard J2X Mk1, built in Champlain, NY, is set to rekindle the spirit and the passion of open-cockpit high-performance driving. Re-engineered from the ground up, yet keeping the same look as its ancestor, the new J2X is an engineered product using the latest performance components to provide the safety, comfort, reliability and performance that one would expect from a limited production, high quality vehicle.
Equipped with a modern 6 or 8 liter fuel-injected V8 (the new Hemi or the Cadillac Northstar), the lightweight J2X Mk1 is capable of impressive acceleration and superior handling due to its fully independent suspension, its rack & pinion steering, its low center of gravity and its racing-grade braking system.
No more than 100 J2X Mk1s will be released in any year and all will sport serial numbers specially awarded to Allard Motor Works' J2Xs by the Allard Registry |
