Toyota Motor Thailand has issued the following press release:
Toyota introduces “FORTUNER”, its new 4WD SUV (Sport Utility Vehicle) to respond to other important customer groups. This SUV is luxurious and flexible, and designed for urban lifestyle. It has a Full-time 4WD system along with a TOP (Toyota Outstanding Performance) Platform developed specifically for the IMV products.
Mr.Paiboon added that “FORTUNER is a trendy, luxurious 4WD SUV designed to be suitable for urban life with a roomy cabin for 7 passengers. There are 2 types of engines available to meet customers’ needs. The first is a high performance 1KD-FTV, 163 Ps. 3000 cc. 2nd Generation Diesel Common-Rail engine with Variable Nozzle Turbo (VNT) Intercooler. The second is the 2TR-FE 160 Ps. 2700 cc. DOHC VVT-i gasoline engine. FORTUNER has a smartly-engineered suspension and frame. The suspension system features coil springs at all 4 wheels, and has off-road driving capability in addition to smooth driving conditions. These 2 new models from Toyota complete the line-up under the IMV Project along with Hilux Vigo“
FORTUNER is produced in Thailand utilizing the world-famous TPS (Toyota Production System). It is not only available for customers in Thailand, but also will be exported to other regions such as ASEAN and the Middle-east, etc.

Luxurious and distinctive ‘Optitron’ Illuminated light meter provides luxury and outstanding vision – one touch Power Windows with jam protection at the driver’s side. – superb audio system with MP3 and 6 speakers including 2 tweeters. – Control switch for audio operation and Multi Information Display at steering wheel – 12Volt connectors at 2 places inside the car at the center console and the left side of the luggage compartment.
– Useful console box Bottle and cup holder at driver side of instrument panel – rear side of console box – 3rd row seats and at 4 doors – center console box – glasses box with map light.
– Multi Information Display easily to read data from the driver’s seat which display : digital clock – outside temperature – average fuel consumption – fuel consumption while driving – average speed – driving time – driving distance from remaining fuel – driving compass.
– Luxurious and comfortable with separate front & rear air conditioners easily controlled with digital buttons, the control switch is at the bottom of control panel which will control the operation of the front and rear air conditioners. Rear air conditioner works simultaneously with a switch located at the side of the 3rd row of seats.

Keyless entry key with panic button is connected to Immobilizer system which can anti-theft. In addition, there’s a TVSS system. This system will help guard against theft when trying to open the doors – hood – serious vibration of body and removing/ connection of the battery terminals.

Reduce noise to cabin by using absorption – Uni-type side panel developed by computer analysis will increase the strength to body and reduce noise. – high performance of passenger tires 265/70 R16 will reduce noise from road – Balance Shaft will reduce the vibration of engine.
– Double Wishbone Front Suspension helps the balance while driving on and off road – Coil spring will provide the smooth driving and stable driving performance while cornering and also increase comfort for better driving.
– Four- link Rear Suspension. More comfortable while driving with coil springs will provide smooth driving – rigid rear axle will increase the security and durability while driving both on normal and rough roads. Suspension link geometry is designed to optimize handling and driving stability.
