Intro: Fabryki Samochod’w Osobowych, once the producer of Warsawa and Syrena cars, later the FSO Polonez has sealed a deal with the South Korean Daewoo Group back in 1996.
The assembly plant has been improved with financial aid from Korea and production surpassed the 200.000th mark for the first time in 1999.
The downfall of Daewoo cast a doubt on the future of the company. By the end of 2003 the financial hurdles were cleared but the fate of the company is still unclear.
In September, 2004 Daewoo was dropped from the name of the company. In 2005 the plant was taken over by Ukravto, owner of the ZAZ plant in Ukraine. |
