Intro: Now the key production center in Central Europe, the Polish Fiat history goes back to the 1930s.
The 2nd World War was followed by a two decades break before the first new Polski Fiat appeared in 1967. Polski Fiat shot to fame with the tiny 126 which was discontinued in 2000. Other minicars included the Cinquecento and the Uno.
Plus during the 1990s various CKD assembly operations took place.
The Uno was discontinued in October, 2002.
Beside the hugely succesful Panda, the Seicento is still being produced and a tiny number of Palio Weekend estates. In 2003 115504 Seicento, 86046 Panda and 2080 Palio Weekend were built.
Also in Bielsko-Biala the Fiat-GM Powertrain facility goes from strength to strength. |
