Russian auto giant, AvtoVAZ officially confirmed that production of one of its longest running model, the 21043 estate is being transferred to the Izh factory in Izhvesk.
Izh and its subsidiary, Roslada have continuously been taking over production of the AvtoVAZ rear-wheel-drive “classics” models since 2000. — Lada Kalina project.
AvtoVAZ which is facing massive financial debts and an outdated production line is trying to phase out its older models in order to focus on new, more exciting designs, like the forthcoming Calina. — VAZ production transfers.
Izh which is controlled by parts maker SOK was already an assembler of the VAZ 21043 since 2002 but now they took over the whole production line. One of the first problems they have to face is that the car has an old carburetor engine, and Russia intends to introduce Euro-2 emission levels next year. — Renault's Russian manufacturing plans.
