Peugeot has issued the following press release:
The 207 continues to grow at a prolific rate, an indication of the high desirability of the range. After the 3 and 5 door hatchback and the coup’ cabriolet, we now have the SW.
Each of these different silhouettes ’ combine the strengths of the 207 design ’ but each have their own individual personality.
The SW silhouette will complete the 207 range, just 15 months after the appearance of the hatchback, whereas four years had elapsed between the launch of the 206 hatchback and the SW version.
The new 207 SW, one and both at the same time:
207 – identified by its strong lines and dynamic character, but still benefiting from the exactness of its design and the evident quality feel of the car.’ SW ’ – two letters which, for Peugeot, express space, light and well being, thanks to the glass panoramic roof, modularity and practicality, all contained within a well proportioned, stylish design. — Fiat 500 Car of the Year 2008.
Its environment, its potential customers
In a market characterised by increasing fragmentation of the individual models,the 207 SW aims to attract a customer base that leads a ’full and busy life’ and who will appreciate the space and versatility of this compact vehicle. Keen on outdoor leisure pursuits, these customers ’ ranging from young families to those in active retirement ’ are out going and enjoy social interaction ’ but, above all, they like to get out and about! When it comes to choosing a vehicle,the design and personality of the vehicle are important factors.
Even more 207 in a 207 ’
The 207 SW guarantees potential customers all the recognised qualities of the 207 but, with an added ’+’ to meet their specific expectations:
– An overall length of 4.156 m, i.e. 119 mm longer than the hatchback (in the rear overhang), providing additional interior space.
– A design oozing with personality, the bold styling at the front which is shared with the hatchback, flows backwards and creates an original design, which is further reinforced by the ’brightness’ created by the panoramic glass roof, the oblong design of the side windows, the inverted rear quarter panels and the huge ruby-like rear lights on which the rear tailgate glass seems to rest. — Renault Grand Modus monospace.
– On some versions, roof bars further emphasise the originality of the design.
– An internal brightness strengthened by the enormous panoramic glass roof, allowing greater enjoyment of the surrounding countryside. An electrically operated sun blind limits the brightness as required.
– An easily accessible luggage area with a capacity of 337 dm3 VDA (or 428 litres) is 67 dm3 more (or 188 litres) than the 207 hatchback. — 2004 Car of the Year Fiat Panda.
– A ’magical’ rear modularity, which means that the user can adapt easily the space to suit their circumstances ’ just one hand is needed to fold down the rear seats which fold automatically to form a totally flat surface area within the luggage area.
– Practical features that will also be appreciated, such as:
’ The opening rear tailgate glass.
’ A three-section parcel shelf allowing access to the contents of the boot ’ from the rear seats, the tailgate glass or, more traditionally, the rear tailgate itself.
’ More space in the back (both headroom and leg room) enabling greater use of the rear seats. The raised height of the rear seats also creates an ’amphitheatre’ effect, improving the occupants’ forward vision.
