FAW Tianjin Xiali Automobile has introduced two new self-developed “national cars” at the 2005 Shanghai Auto Show. — FAW Group's latest vehicle showcase.
The company which manufactures Toyota-related automobiles, aims to produce 130,000 cars this year and plans to grow capacity to reach 300,000 units between 2008-2010. — Auto Shanghai event.
The C1 hatchback rides on a 2425 mm long platform, its major dimensions are: 3810’1670’1480 mm, while the D1 sedan rides on a 2600 mm long platform, its major dimensions are 4500x170x1500 mm. C1 engines range from 1.3 to 1.6 liter, while D1 will have 1.6 and 1.8-liter petrol engines. — small car production initiatives.
These models have been developed through “completely independent research and development” methods, following on the path of the N3 introduced last August. — independent automotive development.
The cars will go on sale this Summer.
