Suzuki Motor Co introduced the 3rd generation Wagon R series in Japan. Replacing the current Wagon R which has been in production since 1998, it is hoped that the new model will be able to compete with cars above its segment selling 15000 units a month. — Suzuki Alto introduction.
New headlights, grille, front and rear bumpers and wider tyres mark the exterior styling. Wheelbase and external dimensions have remained the same. In the RR variant the turbo engine now features direct-injection a first in the class. Also the 0.7 DOHC VVT engine has been reworked and now it works more efficient. New suspension ensures less vibration and enhanced road holding. — Mazda's AZ-Wagon remodel.
In the interior new lightweight materials were employed.
Safety features include EBD (electronic brake-force distribution) combined with ABS, new safety belt pretensioners. — Swift Sport variant.
