With a new dream car, the 6 Coup’, BMW in a fascinating synthesis from sportyness and comfort continues not only the tradition of the legendary first 6-series (1976 to 1989), but also the long history of large luxury coupes. Its premiere on the Frankfurt International Motor Show in Septemberwill celebrate this fascinating new sports car. The introduction on the market in Germany is planned for at the end of of 2003, the price not fixed yet.
The new 6-series, which will be joined by a 2+2 – Cabriolet later, does not only stand for extraordinary dynamics and precision. This automobile shows a design with characteristic, flowing tension lines, supplemental around the harmony of elegant surfaces. The new BMW 645 Ci will set new yardsticks in the class of the luxury sportcoup’s owing to its outstanding sporty handling characteristics and generous available space. A new sports car with unusual proportions. The 6-series Coup’ shows stretched, classical proportions – it presents itself deeply, long and broadly, with self-confident radiant emittance.
The passenger space is far back set and possesses a very low roof line, outlined style elements at the front side panels loosens up its silhouette. Also in the interior the modern stylistic idiom of the exterior continues. A V8-Motor for dynamic driving pleasure.
The 4,4-Liter-V8-powetrain with the VALVETRONIC variable valve timming systems is capable of 245 kW (333 HP) a strong torque of 450 Newtonmeters from 3600/min. Thus the new 6-series Coup’ reaches a maximum speed which is electronically limited to 250 km/h, and sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.6 seconds. This cultivated strength can be transferred depending upon customer’s request over three different six-speed transmissions to the rear drive axle: – over a six-speed manual transmission, – over a six-speed mechanism with Steptronic or – over a Sequential Manual Transmission (SMG) with shift lever or with paddles at the steering wheel. Also the new6-series Coup’ has naturally drive dynamic control (FDC), as well as speed-sensitive steering mechanism.
Agility owing to intelligent lightweight construction.
The body is constructed from a aluminum, steel and plastic which reduces weight. The chassis is made from aluminum. Of course the outstanding full aluminum chassis of the new 6-series Coup’s is supplemented around all relevant electronic monitoring systems like dynamic stability control (DSC) including Dynamic Traction Control (DTC). Optionally the adaptive headlight system is also available. — BMW 5 Series range.
When desired Head-up display and glass panorama roof are available.
Exclusive to the market of the large Coup’s is the head-up display, which is available for the new 6-series BMW. All the relevant information is projected on the windshield. Other options include the active speed control and a new electrically adjustable glass panorama roof. — Audi A4 Coupé Cabrio.
Dimensions
4820 millimeters of length, 1855 millimeters of width and only 1373 millimeters of height are the remarkable external dimensions, also in the interior there is sufficient place. As a 2+2-seater it offers the two passengers in the rear sufficient freedom of movement, its sumptuously dimensioned baggage compartment offers the volume of two golfbags as well as an additional suit-case.
