Drawing on the legacy of the 307 family, the 307 CC exhibits not only a new-style of architecture but ’ essential for this type of vehicle ’ the results of extensive research into safety, functionality and comfort. It also lays claim, in the interior, to an exclusive, dynamic personality which, on certain models, particularly with leather, propels it into the universe of luxury cars with a sporty ambience. In 25 seconds the 307 CC can be transformed from a Coup’ to a abriolet with a single press of a button. The electronically controlled electro-hydraulic system with multiplexing provides all the actuation of he folding roof mechanism, including the front locking, which does not equire manual operation. The sophisticated mechanism of the 307 CC is thus endowed with functional and aesthetic qualities that are both persuasive and fascinating.
Designed in accordance with exact guidelines, the system essentially comprises an electro-pump unit, a “pivot tube”, five cylinders, four multifunction linkages, and twelve switches which combine to operate the roof and the “boot/trunk” assembly at the same time as the rear screen, the latter detaching itself from the rear quarter panels and positioning itself in such a way that the boot volume is maximised.
The challenge was to offer, within moderate overall dimensions, a real four-seater Coup’ which could be transformed into an authentic Cabriolet, an optimum level of safety and with the designs always pleasing to the eye and exuding harmony, whatever the configuration.
The whole of the front cabin, as well as the driver’s position has been reworked. In fact, from the beginning of the project, the plan was to accommodate low seats (- 40 mm) to provide a driving position conforming to that which is usually encountered on a sporty Cabriolet or Coup’. Hence the passenger compartment has been maximised for two reasons: to accommodate up to four occupants and at the same time to be able to specify roof dimensions compatible with folding down the panels which constitute the roof and fitting them into the boot.
The front and rear seats may have been lowered by 40 mm in relation to those of the saloon, but the front seat sliders retain their long travel of 230 mm, allowing them to be pushed back an exceptional distance. At the rear, the H point of the two occupants moves forward 80 mm and seats become more upright to free a space which is essential for siting a boxed section with a triple role : transverse stiffening, integration of two roof bars which are triggered in the event of roll-over, and a bracket for anchoring the roof mechanisms on the structure. — Ford Focus Coupé-Cabriolet.
The height of the vehicle is lowered by 12 mm compared with the saloon; its overall height is now 1.42 m (’ 9 cm).
An impressive range of mechanical equipment; a source of unlimited dynamic energy
Two sixteen-valve 2.0 l engines will be fitted to the 307 CC :
– the sixteen-valve 2.0 l engine – 100 kW ’ 190 Nm with a five speed manual gearbox or a sequentially controlled “Porsche Tiptronic system”
– sixteen valve 130 kW ’ 202 Nm 2.0 l engine coupled to a 5- speed manual box
As on all 307 vehicles, high performance suspension is in place, as well as modulated power steering and light alloy wheels fitted with 16″ or 17″ tyres. Complemented by the lower body and the rigid structure, the whole 307 CC suspension conveys, without a hint of ostentation, an authentic dynamic energy, indispensable in a “pleasure” vehicle. What a pleasure to be in this vehicle! It is an undeniable pleasure to sit in a 307 CC. The passenger compartment provides four comfortable seats ’ two sports seats at the front, carried over from the XSi saloon but lower, and two specially sculpted ones at the rear ’ as well as a cube shaped boot concealing the full-size spare wheel. This boot provides a storage volume of 350 dm3 (as the Coup’), and 204 dm3 (as the Cabriolet).

It is a real visual treat.
There is a colour scheme for each engine :
– a dynamic predominantly black or blue scheme, for the seats and the fascia panel of the 2.0 l 100 kW model
– a determinedly sporty scheme for the 2.0 l 130 kW model, characterised by seats trimmed with honeycomb fabric and leather surround. A metallic strip in the seat back fabric reinforces the individuality of the scheme.
Each of these versions, however, can be trimmed to have an individual look with an even greater top-of-the-range impact. This look is known as ’all leather’ and consists of a leather covered fascia panel, door caps and arm rests, as well as the seats.
Exclusive interior schemes to make a statement about your personality
In the driver’s seat, the 307 CC is distinguished from the rest of the 307 family by a leather steering wheel with three metallic inserts and an instrument panel which has all the appearance of contemporary timepieces, boasting dials with a white background encircled with chrome – just like being surrounded with chronometers.
Aluminium and metal are everywhere in the passenger compartment, on the pedal pads and the foot rest, the gear lever knob, the monogrammed door sills, the instrument panel, the vents. For the benefit of passengers when the car is moving and when exiting the rear seats, three new hand grips are trimmed with a metal ring. Every detail confirms the 307 CC’s top of the range exclusivity.
Technology serving both the useful and the pleasurable
Indispensable aids
A wealth of equipment is available to the driver to provide perfect visibility, together with total comfort and safety, both on the road and when parking. — luxury cars with sporty ambience.
One example is the new twin-function sensor (rain and brightness sensor) which simultaneously controls the automatic windscreen wiper and the automatic switching on of the headlamps, at a stroke providing increased comfort and safety. Others are the new electrochrome interior mirror and the innovative flat blade windscreen wipers.
The parking aid system with four sensors for reversing and automatic folding down of the exterior mirrors also play their part in the quality of presentation of this vehicle.
The follow-me-home lighting system is a great boon to all passengers, providing them with better visibility when they climb out of the vehicle at night.
Cruise control regulates the speed automatically, making life easier for the driver.
A highly sought after degree of comfort
A great deal of research resulted in the level of temperature control available on both the Coup’ and the Cabriolet, with automatic regulation climate control and a tinted rear screen as standard. The thickness of the side windows and the windscreen also contribute to the acoustic comfort on the Coup’.
On the Cabriolet, the shape of the windscreen and its slope, which is more sharply raked than on the saloon, dramatically streamline the vehicle, cutting down the air noise in the passenger compartment. A mesh “windstop” is available as an option and its four folding sections means that it can easily be stored in the base of the boot.
On-board communication
Fitted with a mono CD audio system as standard, with six speakers and an invisible radio aerial, the 307 CC can also be equipped with telematic equipment, with a car phone and a satellite navigation system linked to manual or automatic emergency and assistance services. The information is displayed on a 7″ (16/9) monochrome or colour screen.
