During the last couple of days lots of new cars appeared at the Essen Motor Show from various tuning companies and design studios. We introduce the best of them all.
Hamann Las Vegas Wings
Hamann Motorsport created its 2nd gull-wing M3, this time powered by a 485 hp / 357 kW V8 four-valve engine. The 315 km/h fast rocket costs 280,000 Euro
The HAMANN LAS VEGAS WINGS is constructed on the base of a reinforced bodyshell of the current BMW M3. The V8 engine originally comes from the M5 but was extensively modified at the HAMANN engine department.
Among other things the HAMANN doping for the 5.0 litre engine with single-throttle injection contains modifications on the inlet and outlet side, a special air induction with ram air effect and a 4-pipe stainless steel high performance exhaust system including special manifolds and metal-bed catalysts. The entire exhaust system was specially designed for this car. All new components get perfectly coordinated with a special mapping for the ECU.
To install the big V8 engine into the relatively small engine compartment of the BMW M3 many parts like the engine brackets, the oil-pan and the bonnet with the integrated window had to be especially handcrafted.
As a result the HAMANN LAS VEGAS WINGS establishes itself among the world’s fastest sports cars: From standstill the coupe catapults in 4.0 seconds only to 100 km/h. After 12.9 seconds the car is already 200 km/h fast. Maximum speed is 315 km/h.
The sporty look is additionally marked by the special liquid-silver metallic paint, which changes its color depending on the incidence of light, the roof in clear-coated Carbon and the multi-piece HAMANN PG3 light alloy wheels. On the HAMANN LAS VEGAS WINGS these wheels are fitted in the dimensions 8.5Jx19 front and 10Jx19 rear. For the tires they chose the sizes 245/35 ZR 19 front and 275/30 ZR 19 on the rear axle. — Toyota's new Corolla Matrix at the 2007 SEMA Show.
The cockpit of the HAMANN LAS VEGAS WINGS has an exclusive equipment: The handmade HAMANN full leather interior is made with love down to the smallest detail. Its turquoise and black colors set a tasteful contrast to the silver color of the bodywork. HAMANN genuine Carbon applications and aluminium parts such as the pedals, the gearshift lever, the handbrake lever and the footrest give the interior a genuine racing touch.
BRABUS tuning for the new Mercedes S 600
560 hp / 412 kW of power, a maximum torque of 900 Nm, available from only 1,900 rpm, just 4.6 seconds for the acceleration from 0 ’ 100 km/h and an electronically limited top speed of 310 km/h: Those are the cornerstones of the new Mercedes S 600 with 12-cylinder bi-turbo engine and BRABUS T 12 engine tuning.
To keep this enormous performance safely in check at all times the new S 600 too can be fitted with the BRABUS high-performance brake system. It features 375 x 36 mm perforated and vented disks as well as 12-piston fixed calipers in front, and six-piston fixed calipers and 355 x 28 mm disks on the rear axle, and was developed specifically for the large Mercedes models.
Just as important for an individual look and for active safety are attractive BRABUS Monoblock light-alloy wheels, which are available in a number of different designs as one-piece and multi- piece rims. Largest possible wheel/tire combination is multi-piece BRABUS Monoblock VI double-spoke wheels in sizes 9.5Jx20 in front and 10Jx20 on the rear axle. Michelin and Pirelli supply the corresponding high-performance tires in sizes 245/35 ZR 20 and 275/30 ZR 20.
Specifically matched to this tire/wheel combination is the BRABUS suspension module for the ABC suspension. It gives the S 600 more sporty yet comfortable handling characteristics and lowers the body by about 20 millimeters. — new Nissan GT-R supercar.
The BRABUS multimedia package represents the very latest in communication technology on wheels. The package is harmoniously integrated into the interior of the S-Class and is controlled with a Palm IIIc, which not only serves as an organizer but also doubles as the remote control for the multimedia system.
BRABUS E V12 Concept Car based on the new E-Class
The concept car is powered by a 630 hp / 464 kW twelve-cylinder bi-turbo engine. With its top speed of 340 km/h the BRABUS E V12 Concept Car follows in the footsteps of its world-famous predecessor, which opened the door to a new level of power and performance for sporty sedans.
The BRABUS E V12 Concept Car offers a first preview of the production version of the BRABUS E V12, which will be built in small-series production starting in 2003. No base price has been set as of yet but it is expected to be in the neighborhood of 300,000 Euros.
As the name indicates, the BRABUS E V12 Concept Car is powered by a 12-cylinder bi-turbo engine. The engine normally resides in the new Mercedes S 600. It was extensively modified by the BRABUS powerplant engineers. The engine delivers a maximum power output of 630 hp / 464 kW at 5,100 rpm and produces an enormous maximum torque of 1,000 Nm from 1,750 rpm.
Optimal lubrication is essential with this kind of power. That’s why engine, custom five-speed automatic transmission and rear differential are all operated with high-performance lubricants from BRABUS technology partner ARAL.
Performance figures for the BRABUS E V12 Concept Car are on a level normally reserved for the world’s very fastest sports cars: 0 – 100 km/h in just 4.2 seconds, 12.9 seconds for 0 – 200 km/h and a top speed of 340 km/h are the most important figures of this exclusive high-performance sedan. — Tokyo Show sustainability concepts.
Carlsson CM 55 K
Carlsson presents the CM55K with 480 bhp. And it is hardly surprising to discover that Carlsson has created an even more exclusive coup’ on the basis of the CLK 55.
The supercharger is integrated into the engine unit in a technically and visually optimum position between the cylinder banks. The advantages of the high-performance supercharger, which is made under licence from Wankel, include a high degree of efficiency (up to more than 70 percent), smooth, wear-resistant running, great endurance, immediate response and low weight. The Carlsson compressor is distinguished by an optimum increase in power, which has a positive effect on the dynamic driving characteristics. The engine output rises to a powerful 353 KW / 480 bhp with maximum torque of 650 Nm at 2800 to 4000 rpm, which emphatically underscores the sporting nature of CM55K. Top speed has been measured at over 302 km/h. Acceleration from a standing start to 100 km/h takes just 4.9 seconds.
KLEEMANN tuning for the new Mercedes S 600
With a 6-liter V12 bi-turbo engine, directly lifted from the Maybach 620 bhp propels the 2-ton car within 4,6 seconds to 100 km/h speed. The car has an enormous torque of 950 Nm. Updated turbo system and a brand-new intercooler are the keys to this fantastic performance.
Wiesmann GT
Wiesmann Auto-Sport GmbH, maker of the ultra-expensive and ultra-rare MF3 and MF30 BMW-powered roadsters exhibited its GT in Essen. It is basically a closed coup’ version of the existing car with a swooping roofline and a slightly altered front.
Colani Speedster Shark
Luigi Colani, the eccentric designer who’s previously created such outrageous one-off prototypes, as the Ferrari Testa d’Oro re-clothed an Opel Speedster to a wild-looking coupe.
