Intro: The Formosa Plastic Group first experimented with hybrid automobiles back in 1994. The group's subsidiary, Asia Pacific
Investment Co developed two prototypes. AP-2, a Saturn bodied gasoline-electricity powered
is more feasible.
FPG set up Formosa Automobile Corp in 1999 on the ground of an agreement with Renault.
This came to nil, but they teamed up with Daewoo in South Korea and in 2000 assembled the first locally
produced Magnus.
This was followed by the 2nd Formosa in March 2002, a local version of the Daewoo Matiz. In August 2002, a Formosa I fuelled by LPG was marketed.
