Intro: China Motors Co. (CMC) was established by Jingling Yen in 1969 and signed a technical cooperation agreement with Mitsubishi Motors of Japan a year later.
Production of Mitsubishi commercial vehicles started in 1973. Today CMC is Taiwan's largest maker of truck and vans, owned 15 per cent by Japan's Mitsubishi Motors Corp.
The company's China Motor Asia Research & Technology Center (CARTEC) developed the Dynamic Family Wagon, called the Freeca, basically an Asian Utility Vehicle for Mitsubishi. In the past few years, the CARTEC-developed Freeca has been one of the best-selling commercial/RV models in both Taiwan and other Asian markets. |
