Intro: Johann Abt founded the rapidly growing Abt Sportsline GmbH which is now under the direction of his two sons, Hans-J’rgen and Christian Abt. Johann Abt notched up more than 300 victories, competing nationally and internationally as a works driver for Abarth and DKW. Today, Johann Abt contributes to the success of the company with his enormous wealth of experience. The Abt family has a long-standing tradition spanning more than 100 years, beginning as blacksmiths crafting horseshoes back in 1896.
Today’s Abt Sportsline GmbH evolved from the Abt Tuning GmbH in 1991. On the company’s 12,000 square metre premises, Abt creates custom-made vehicles utilising their comprehensive motorsport expertise. Team Abt Sportsline is one of the most successful racing teams. The outfit turned heads in 1999 winning the German Super Touring Championship, beating works teams from Opel and Honda.
Abt Sportsline also earned its excellent reputation as a long proven partner of major car manufacturers: For instance, since 1998 the Kempten company has prepared and maintained the racing vehicles of the popular VW Lupo Cup for Volkswagen AG.
