Intro: Started in 1964, the Ghent assembly plant has become the largest assembly operation within the Volvo Cars group. It currently produces about 160,000 cars per annum. Recent investments will enable it to raise the capacity to 270,000 units per annum with 1400 new workers. Production of the all-new Volvo S40 commenced in September, 2003 while the V50 estate joined in late, 2003. |
