Intro: Lotus Seven replicas are slowly appearing in the former Eastern bloc. E.g. Estfield in Estonia, Helix in Hungary and Kaipan are all producing copies of this legendary two seater roadster.
The first Kaipan powered by a 2-liter Ford engine was unveiled in 1992 but production started only 6 years later.
In 2002 7 complete cars were produced as the company focused on developing a new model, called the 57. Basically the body is the same but the car features a new chassis and a 1.8 Turbo engine sourced from Volkswagen.
Current plans call for the sales of about 20-30 units in 2003. |
