Intro: General Motors entered Argentina in 1925. On July 14, 1993, General Motors de Argentina S.A. was established as a joint venture between GMC and CIADEA, an Argentine-controlled producer of Renault vehicles. GM recently acquired 100 percent of CIADEA.
Following a commercial and industrial strategic alliance signed between GM Argentina and Suzuki Motor Corporation in July 1999, GM Argentina is now in charge of the distribution of all Suzuki automotive products in the domestic market. Also under the terms of this agreement, GM Argentina produces at its Rosario facility the Grand Vitara model.
The plant produced 45166 automobiles in 2003: 20299 Chevrolet Corsas, 22552 Chevrolet Corsa II models, Chevrolet and Suzuki Grand Vitara: 2315 units. |
