Intro: Sichuan-Toyota Motor Corp. was established in 1998 as a joint venture between Toyota in Japan and the Sichuan Station Wagon Factory to produce the Coaster bus in China.
In October, 2002 First Automobile Works set up Chengdu China FAW Automobile Co., Ltd which took over 80 per cent of the Sichuan Station Wagon Factory thus acquiring a controlling stake in Sichuan-Toyota as well.
A year later production of the Toyota Prado commenced locally. |
