Intro: Mercedes-Benz cars have a long history in Malaysia. Formerly Cycle&Carriage; Bintang Bhd (CCB) handled local trading but in December, 2002 the company was restructured and it is now 51 per cent owned by DaimlerChrysler and 49 per cent by CCB.
The new company started operating in January, 2003. By the end of 2005 80 per cent of locally sold cars were CKD assembled.
Assembly operations are now being handled by DRB-Hicom. |
