Intro: John Bettini built his Bullet prototype, a Mazda MX-5 powered by a 200 kW twin-rotor engine from an RX-7 back in 1996. He soon realized that fitting a Lexus V8 would be the ideal solution but it was only in 2001 when Advanced Engine Components bought his company that this dream could be realized.
Launched in November, 2001 the Bullet Roadster and its supercharged version, called the SS are being produced, built on imported MX-5 bodyshells.
AEC expects to build 50 Bullet Roadsters each year.
