Intro: MADI has been a local assembler of Mazda and Hino commercial vehicles for decades. Now the 1st Ministry of Industry has comissioned the company to manufacture jeeps.
Myanmar jeeps are being manufactured at six industrial zones under supervision of the Committee for Development of Industries and the Working Committee for Development of Industies, the Ministry of Industry-1. The jeeps manufactured are Super Mandala Jeep from Mandalay Industrial Zone, Myay Latt Jeep from Myingyan Industrial Zone, Htila Jeep from Meikhtila Industrial zone, Chindwin Star Jeep from Monywa Industrial Zone , Shan Star Jeep from Ayethaya Industrial Zone in Taunggyi and PKU Jeep from Pakokku Industrial Zone. Body is made locally, while the mechanical parts are imported from Japan.
A total of 130 Jeeps have been successfully manufactured during 2001-2002. About 240 jeeps are targeted to be manufactured in 2002-2003. |
