Intro: Shanghai Motor Corp., Ltd was set up in November, 2004. It encompasses the assets and busineses which previously belonged to Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation (Group) (SAIC).
SAIC Motor mainly produces passenger cars, mini vehicles, buses, heavyduty trucks, motorcycles, tractors and construction equipment. It also has six categories of parts systems, including body trimming, chassis, electric and electronics, powertrain, air-conditioning and casting, forging and heat processing.
In line with China's open-door policy, SAIC has been attracting and utilizing foreign capital since 1984. It has introduced and assimilated advanced global technology and has set up 56 joint ventures with world-renowned automotive groups from the United States, Germany, Japan, the United Kingdom, France, Italy and other countries.
