Intro: Zagross Khodro is a new private CKD assembler in Iran started its first assembly in July 2002. The plant capacity is designed for 50,000 units annually. However, the land area is 2,500,000 m2 with planning for future investment of an additional 100,000 units plant. Current production is Wira from the Malaysian Perusahaan Otomobil Nasional Bhd (Proton). Total produced cars in 2003 was 1000 units and the planned production for 2004 and 2005 is 3000 and 12000 units, respectively. Zagross Khodro is studying new contract assemblies with other car makers to increase the production to its full capacity of 50,000 units annually.
