Intro: The Changhe Aircraft Industry which belongs to the state-controlled China Aviation Industry Corporation II which also controls Hafei and Hanjiang produced helicopters and automobiles. It subsidiary, the Changhe Machinery Factory started assembling Suzuki ST 90VT trucks. They also designed and produced 12-19 seats minibuses by their own. In 1999 the Changhe Suzuki Automobiles Co. Ltd. was founded in cooperation with Suzuki (39 %), Okaya Co. Ltd. (10 %), the rest by the Changhe Aircraft Industry. The Beidouxing (Suzuki Wagon R) was introduced at the Beijing Motor Show 2000.
Also various minibuses are being made at the plant which produced 150,000 vehicles in 2002.
In 2003 a new Bertone-designed, Suzuki-based minicar, called Ideal went on the market. |
