Intro: Ford Motor Company has its Mexican headquarters in Mexico City, which was established as a national company in 1925. To this day there are three assembly plants in the country.
- The first plant to be established is the Cuautitlan industrial complex plant, constructed in 1964, which operates as an assembly and stamping plant. In 2005 the Ikon was being produced there.
- The second plant to be constructed in Mexican territory was the Chihuahua engine plant, which initiated its operations in 1983.
- The last Mexican plant was set up at Hermosillo stamping and assembly plant in 1986. In 2003 it was announced that the Hermosillo plant will cater for the assembly of Ford CD3 models (Ford Fusion, Mercury Milan and Lincoln Zephyr). After an investment of US$ 1,200,000 by Ford and an additional US$ 400 million by suppliers production commenced in August, 2005. |
