Intro: Nissan Motor Co. has been on the Mexican market since 1959 when the first Datsuns appeared. Two years later Nissan Mexicana S.A. de C.V. was established but it took another five years to start local production. By 1972 the operation grew to a bigger scale so exports have started. In 1981 the Datsun brand disappeared.
In 1995 60 per cent of the Nissan exports to Latin American countries were supplied from the Mexican factories.
Soon after Renault bought Nissan assembly of the Scenic MPV has been added to the existing Nissan models, such as the Tsuru and the Sentra (Sunny).
Production 2002: 340,658 units. In 2003 2153 Scenic, 13082 Clio models were assembled |
