Intro: The company, which is now the 10th recognized carmaker in Japan, just like Nissan, Toyota etc. was originally set up in 1968 by Sesumu Mitsuoka.
The car-repair workshop produced its first self-designed vehicle in 1982. Various replicars followed and in 1990 a neo-classic called the La Seyde. The Nissan Silvia-based classic looking sedan became a runaway success and the introduction of the Nissan March/Micra based Viewt in 1993 also became a hit.
Fuelled by the success of these retro-styled cars Mitsuoka started to grow and expand its car line-up. A Lotus Seven replica, other retrocars and in 1998 a new series of microcars were developed. Mitsuoka who is a huge London taxi fan became the distributor of the London Taxis TX1 as well.
Today the company has more than 400 employees, produces 80-100 cars per months, its export markets include Hong Kong and United States.
