Intro: Trading since 1880, it's fair to say that Asquith Brothers has been around for a while. Initially involved in the manufacture of textile machinery and other industrial units, the company first started dabbling in motor cars with the arrival of new MD, Mike Fox, in 1966, initially building Formula Ford racing cars and then moving through a number of different projects. Since 1983 the company has offered a highly authentic Riley MPH replica using either period pre-war Riley saloon components and chassis or bespoke new chassis and Ford-based running gear and engines. Manufacturing around a dozen cars each year, most are for the more modern (and affordable) replica and of these some 50% tend to leave the factory in component form rather than turnkey examples. The company's other main business is the restoration and recreation of Formula Ford and Formula 1 racing cars from the 70s and 80s while another sideline involves the restoration of Bond Bugs. |
