Intro: The origins of Toyota de Venezuela goes back to 1957. Automotive operations started in 1981. In addition to the Corolla, Land Cruiser and Dyna models production of the Daihatsu Terios mini-SUV started in November, 2001.
Due largely in part to the Venezuelan government's "family car" campaign, which is aimed at encouraging sales of compact cars, vehicles in the "family car" category now account for about half of all passenger vehicles sold in Venezuela.
The Terios - which has received government designation as a "family car" - fits into this scenario.
