Intro: The Ariel name is one of the oldest in motoring history, being originally launched in 1898 and the Atom is the first new model to continue the marque in almost thirty years. Designed by Simon Saunders, the skeletal Atom went into production in 2000 and in 2001 some 25 cars were manufactured. The company's target for 2002 is one a week, all cars being assembled from the company's 8000sq/ft factory where six staff are employed in assembly of the Atom and the company's other core business, specialist automotive design work. |
