Intro: The car maker, founded in 1969 as a partnership between Turkey's Military Pension Fund (OYAK) (49 percent) and France's Renault (51 percent), produced its first passenger automobiles at its Bursa plant in 1971.
During the first year it only had a capacity of 20,000 cars per annum. Today the plant, which includes body assembly and engine and transmission production units, has the capacity to manufacture 170,000 cars per year.
The site obtained the ISO 9001 Quality System Assurance Certificate in 1996 and exports a large portion of its production to various European countries. |
