Intro: The story of the Auverland off-roader goes back to the 1940s when Bernard Cournil, a mecahnic in Aurillac started converting left-over Jeeps for agricultural use.
The success of these creations led to a new self-designed vehicle, simply called the Cournil. This was roughly French equivalent of the ubiquotous Unimog. The Cournil lasted for a couple of decades in various body styles.
In the 1980s financial difficulties spelled the end of the original company. However a new company in Portugal, named UMM resumed production.
Paralelly a French company, named Auverland also introduced a new generation of Cournils, called the Auverland A2.
The A2 used Peugeot engine. A few years later a more compact version, called the A3 appeared.
It's still the main product of the company which has gone through numerous transformations.
The Auverland A3 is also being used by the French Army.
In 1996 a microcar, named A5 was also introduced to ride the wave of the increasingly popular micros.
The company is currently not offering any civil products
