Intro: Avanti was originally a product of Studebaker back in the 1960s. When Studebaker stopped production two local dealers took over the project and offered the car as the Avanti II from 1965 to 1982. During the 1980s-1990s Avanti changed ownership many times. From 1999 Michael Kelly is the sole owner and he built a new factory in Villa Rica. He's now employing replicar builder Chuck Beck and offers his creations as well.
The Studebaker SUV which resulted in a lawsuit with General Motors is in prototype stage.
In October, 2004 the company was put up for sale but no buyers were found. However in October, 2005 Avanti Motors introduced its 2006 line up which indicates that the company is back and alive. |
