Volkswagen do Brasil has issued the following press release:
Volkswagen is holding the world premiere of the limousine version of the current Polo generation at the forthcoming Sao Paulo Autoshow. This variation will be sold at the South American market as the Polo “Sedan”. Here the limousine belongs to the small category. The Polo “Sedan” establishes new benchmark in the category with its spacious interior.
The limousine variation is based on the current generation Polo and with its 4179 mm length it is 28,2 cm longer than the European hatchback version. The car has restyled rear section from the B-column. — Volkswagen Tiguan.
The luggage compartment has a capacity of 432 liters. The Polo limousine is available with two petrol engines: 1,6 liter (74 kW/ 101 bhp) or a 2,0 liter unit (85 kW /115 bhp). With the latter the car is capable a maximum speed of 201 kmh. Both engine variants are available in Basis and Highline guise.
The limousine version will be made in paralel with the hatchback version at the Anchieta plant in Brasil. Export plans are under consideration. — new Volkswagen models.
The Anchieta plant is the biggest among the five Brasilian Volkswagen factories. Volkswagen has a market share of 28 per cent in Brasil, up to date the company has marketed more than 12,5 million vehicles. — 2005 Geneva International Motor Show.
In addition to the new Polo a special off-roader version of the locally produced Parati, called the Crossover was also introduced.
