Byd Automobile exhibited five new cars and some new technologies at the Auto Shanghai Show. The company, which has made it into the Top 10 in the national sales chart introduced two new models at the show: the production version of the F6 and the new F3-R in addition to the F8 coupe-cabriolet which was the “Best New Car Award” at the 2006 Beijing Auto Show.
Byd F6
Byd which showed the F6 as a concept car a couple years ago unveiled the production version at the Show. This new luxury car was developed to strengthen the image of China’s national brands. — China Brilliance's new FRV debut.
F6 is 4850 mm long, 1822 mm wide and 1465 mm tall. Powertrain options include a self-developed 2.0-liter engine with manual gearbox or a Mitsubishi 2.4-liter MIVEC engine.
Electric windows and electrically adjustable seats, dashboard with white-background LED instrument panel, ABS, EBD are all standard. — Buick Riviera world premiere.
Byd F3-R
The new F3-R which just went on sale in China is a new bodystyle of the F3 sedan. It is promoted as a value for money car with high equipment level. A 360 liter luggage compartment accompanies its roomy interior — Mitsubishi's concept vehicle trio.
F3-R sits on a 2600 mm long platform and it is 4325 mm long.
Power comes from a 1.5-liter Mitsubishi engine with Delphi fuel injection and variable valve timing.
Byd hopes to produce 500,000 cars by 2009.
