Intro: Inokom was incorporated on 19 October 1992. It is a joint venture between Berjaya Group Berhad (35%), Pesumals (M) Sdn Bhd (30%), Renault (15%), Hyundai Motor Company (15%) and Hyumal Motor Sdn Bhd (5%). It has a paid-up capital of RM100 million. INOKOM has also signed agreements with Renault of France and Hyundai Motor Company of Seoul, Korea covering technical assistance and supply for the Company. The first Inokom product was the Permas, a license-built Renault Trafic, followed by the Lorimas, a rebadged Hyundai truck. Also the Hyundai Atos is being assembled locally.
In April, 2004 Sime Darby Corporation took over a 51 percent stake each in Hyundai Berjaya Corp., Hyumal Motor and Inokom Corp. for a total of 168.87 million dollars in cash.
