Intro: The FAW Group Corporation of China is the biggest automotive industrial conglomerate in China. There are 35 assembly plants scattered around the country, 11 sub-companies (controlled solely by FAW), 12 holding companies and 14 joint ventures. And there are 200 other enterprises related to FAW.
The best known JV was set up with Volkswagen AG in 1990. The FAW-Volkswagen company is now producing the Jetta, Bora and the Audi A6. Recently FAW teamed up with Toyota Motor Corp. in Japan and the Vios is now produced at Tianjin-Toyota.
The FAW Group Corporation of China was founded in 1953 The first Jiefang truck was produced in 1956 and the first Hongqi car was developed in 1958. In the past 40 years more than 4 million vehicles have been produced
Current cumulated capacity of all plants exceeds 400.000 units. Cars are exported to 30 countries.
The target of FAW to step into the new century is to become an auto-industry group with a capacity of one million vehicles, sales income one million U.S. dollars, to complete in the international market. |
