Intro: DongFeng (East Wind), one of China's top three automotive companies, was established in 1969 by the Chinese government. It has teamed up with Citro’n in 1992 and the Dongeng-Citro’n Automobile Co is now one of the leading carmakers in the country.
They also teamed up with Mitsubishi and now the L400 is assembled as the Chenglong LZ6460.
Other subsidiaries are producing various trucks, buses and auto parts.
In 2002 a major agreement was signed with Nissan which should see 500,000 Nissan cars produced in China.
By 2005 DongFeng Motor Co.,Ltd was set up. It is a joint venture, 50 per cent owned by Nissan, 50 per cent owned by DongFeng. |
