Intro: Pars Khodro was an affiliate of the American Rambler company and manufactured various versions of the Jeep off-roader during the 1960s. In 1973 it was sold to General Motors and began assembling American saloon cars but kept its Jeep line intact.
The Islamic Revolution brought the plant to a halt but a couple of years later production restarted with the Nissan Patrol.
Pars Khodro is now controlled by SAIPA and it was chosen as one of the manufacturing sites for the Renault Logan (known as Tondar in Iran).
The company also provides additional capacity to SAIPA, by producing over 150,000 units of Iran's most popular car, the Kia Pride.
Assembly of the Renault Megane will commence in the 2nd half of 2007. |
