Info: A Volkswagen off-roader is not such a far-fetched idea. But a luxury one is. Ferdinand Porsche created the German jeep during the 2nd World War for Volkswagen. The K’belwagen and its swimming version were resurrected in the 1970s when the 181 (known as The Thing in the USA) were introduced. Its shape closely followed that of the war-machines. Also the Iltis should be mentioned here. But all these vehicles are working horses compared to the Touareg, developed in conjunction with Porsche. It is a new entry for the booming SUV class.
